Long Overdue

Whoa.  So it’s been about nine months since I’ve written anything.  A lot has happened since then — both good and bad.  Let’s just say 2017 was a trying year….

I helped my Mom start a new life after she got up the nerve to divorce my dad after thirty four years (he had been very mentally/verbally abusive my entire life), and then shortly after that I found out I had Basal Cell Carcinoma on my nose.  Needless to say, that was a RUDE awakening for me and I was terrified I would be left with an unsightly scar in the middle of my face.  So, in between finding out that news and waiting for my surgery date, I received some much worse news.  On the morning of my son’s third birthday party (back in March), I got the call that my sweet Uncle had suddenly passed.  That was a really, really bittersweet day to say the least.  Trying to celebrate your son’s birthday while you’re mourning the death of a loved one is no easy task.

Fast forward a few months….

I had my surgery in May of ’17 and am happy to say I am cancer free!  I am so grateful that I had a badass plastic surgeon who left me with a minimal scar along the bridge of my nose.  It also taught me a lot about skin care and now I am a freak about wearing SPF every single day.  So, all is going well, and then I find out that my Aunt (my Mom’s sister) who had been battling Multiple Sclerosis, is doing much worse.  It was a roller coaster for the entire family as we continued to pray for a miracle.  My beautiful Aunt ended up losing her battle to MS on October 6th, 2017.  She was only 48.

I told you 2017 was trying…

I started this blog so that I could give myself a creative outlet as a stay at home working mom (as if I didn’t have my hands full enough already), but it turned into so much more.  I’ve made some incredible friends along the way — who knew that could even happen through Instagram — and I’ve also turned this blog into my own little business.  This has been a passion of mine for SO long and I can finally see some really amazing things happening with it.  I set some goals, met some goals, and have driven myself a little (okay maybe more than just a little) crazy along the way.  I also want to THANK YOU all for following along and supporting this silly little dream of mine.  Blogging isn’t easy and it isn’t for the faint of heart.  It has it’s ups and downs and pros and cons just like any other job.

But I love it.

The reason I’m writing this post is, well, because it was long overdue first of all.  I work part time for StitchFix along with raising my two boys so that has kept me PLENTY busy to say the least.  Other than this blog post being long overdue, I wanted to share my main goal for 2018.  I’m going to try to stop and smell the roses.  I tend to be a workaholic and get so caught up in the Insta world that I forget to look around me!  I am trying to be a more present wife, mom, and friend going forward.  It’s all about BALANCE.  And that word is not an easy one to live by these days.

But I sure as hell am going to try.

My top is under $40, so soft and soooo flattering because of the dolman style sleeves.  It also comes in light grey and burgundy!  My new mom jeans have been on constant repeat are are my new go-to’s.  They are TTS but I would size down one if you’re in between sizes because they will stretch a little as you wear them.  My booties go with literally everything and as you can see, I wear them constantly as well!
